about

Although she now resides in the UK, Jordan Reyne keeps her homeland close to heart - and in her song ‘Dear John’, a “woman of a certain age” gives New Zealand Prime Minister John Key a piece of her mind. The song serves as a critique about New Zealand's Prime Minister, John Key, and his "eat the poor" style politics. There is an accompanying video, for which Reyne “crowdsourced” the virtual actors in her song – inviting friends and fans to send their own message to the Prime Minister via an item of food. The participants, while unable to be physically present in the video, are there in a ghostly presence.

‘Dear John’ is taken from Reyne’s EP ‘Crone’, which is part of a trilogy of EPs called "Maiden, Mother, Crone".

PowertoolRecords Auckland, New Zealand

Rough Church was conceived after the demise of Ferdinand, the band that existed from 1994-2003. It spits out indie pop classic jams that get us compared to everything from Minutemen, Pixies, Broken Social Scene, WAR and Grand Funk. Deal with it! We can't get away from it. ... more
